There is probably a problem with the cable connecting to your lcd (the screen). You might not have the tools to fix it yourself, but if you can figure out how to open the laptop and get access to the screen, you maybe able to figure out if it is shorting out or perhaps just unplugged. You can always have it serviced, or hopefully it is under warranty. Probably a problem with that though.
